The Caroline Duncan award is given each year for the best abstract submitted by a student though worthy resident abstracts can also be condidered.  It includes a $500 cash award and a plaque.  The award was established in honor of Dr. Caroline Duncan, a founding member of the SPNS and dedicated teacher to decades of pediatric neurologists.  Dr. Duncan trained at John Hopkins and joined the faculty of Louisiana State University in 1961.  While she is retired, she still attends ‘fellow clinic’ to teach.  At one time she was the only child neurologist between Houston, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia!
